I agree with Harry on this one. We should have xsplash and the gdm login background be the same (as xsplash), would help with any flashes of the gdm login background. I'm also pretty sure the mockup had the background the same...but I could be wrong there. I'm still noticing a flash of the new orange default background during xsplash on 3 separate machines, and I have autologin enabled on all of them.
