I'm sorry I don't fully understand your comments regarding the error parsing parameters on the backend. Could you please explain in more detail, and perhaps attach a backend log (/var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log) if you believe that is the source of those problems?
The sound being disabled is perhaps the same issue as reported in Bug #436792. Let's use this bug (434899) to track your backend issue, and the other bug to track the sound issue. If you go to that bug, you can subscribe yourself for future updates if we can figure anything out.
