Using Ubuntu Karmic I have the same issue with the CT3180 identified as card 'Creative Phone Blaster 28.8/33.6' but no sound modules are loaded. The modem is detected and works just fine using wvdial.
modprobe snd-sb16 does NOT give me sound. It does work with Windows XP. I'm trying to figure out how to manually set up with sound.
