Glancing through your dmesg output I see the following interesting
error:
[ 1.984281] ACPI Error: Current brightness invalid 20090521 video-538
This looks like it might be a duplicate of bug 428910 which a patch was
recently committed to hopefully renable brightness control. The patch
should be available for testing with the latest 2.6.31-11.38 kernel. If
you can please test this latest kernel and let us know your results.
You can confirm the version of the kernel you are running by looking at
the output of 'cat /proc/version_signature'. Thanks!
