Hi Andrew, I'd first try and make sure this is not your CD drive starting to fail. You mentioned you have windows installed, does the CD drive work properly under windows? Assuming it does, could you attach your full dmesg output after trying to use the CD drive? I'd be interested to see what error messages may be logged. Thanks.
