I've tried Karmic beta Live Cd amd64, and the problem didn't appear anymore.
I've switched to openjdk6 on Karmic i386 yesterday, and it works, but I got an error that never appeared when using sun-java6-jre, and looks similar to other errors I had with openjdk6 on amd64. I'll paste the error message below, if there's anything more i can do to troubleshoot the issue when the crash (forces to restart Firefox before the java applet can work again) occurs again, please tell me (I've installed -dbgsym since, not sure if a backtrace would help).
