You have been subscribed to a public bug: When installing koffice-kde4 (or any of the individual packages kword- kde4, kpresenter-kde4, etc.) all KOffice 1.x packages are removed, including Kexi.
While it is fine that the Koffice1 versions of Kword, KPresenter, etc. are removed during the installation (and replaced by their Koffice2 counterparts), Kexi should *not* be removed because there is no Koffice2 version for it yet. Conversely, the package "kexi" can't be installed without uninstalling all KOffice2 packages. This effectively forces anyone who needs Kexi to stay with the Koffice1 versions for all the other apps as well. The expected behaviour would be that KWord, KPresenter, etc., *and* Kexi could all co-exist in their respective newest versions. --- Output of "sudo apt-get install -V kword-kde4" when the package "kexi" has previously been installed: The following extra packages will be installed: koffice-data-kde4 (2.0.2-2ubuntu1) koffice-libs-kde4 (2.0.2-2ubuntu1) Suggested packages: koffice-doc-html-kde4 (2.0.2-2ubuntu1) wordnet (3.0-16) Recommended packages: ruby (4.2) The following packages will be REMOVED: kexi (1.6.3-7ubuntu8) koffice-data (1.6.3-7ubuntu8) koffice-libs (1.6.3-7ubuntu8) The following NEW packages will be installed: koffice-data-kde4 (2.0.2-2ubuntu1) koffice-libs-kde4 (2.0.2-2ubuntu1) kword-kde4 (2.0.2-2ubuntu1) ** Affects: koffice2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- koffice2 and kexi refuse to coexist in Ubuntu Karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/432561 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to koffice2 in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
