On a fully updated Karmic install the message is shown now and then. Between 30 to 60 minutes after boot the screen flickers to black an to normal. At the same time the " square icon" with the message appears in the notification area. So the problem is not solved. Got the normal ubuntu Xorg packages: 1.7.4+3ubuntu5. System uses open source radeon driver (working fine).
