The icon already exists.  It's the same icon that is used while update
manager is "working".  Why not just invert the icons so that greyscale is
the default one, and orange while it's working?

Both xubuntu and mythbuntu make this change by default to have
update-notifier used.  Humanity is used for Mythbuntu too.
