Here possibly present old problem with legacy keyboard support. If you have access by ssh, simply restart psmouse module.
# sudo rmmod psmouse && sudo modprobe psmouse Trick to fix this - disable feature "legacy keyboard support" in BIOS, I didn't did that yet and really don't know if such option present. I blacklisted psmouse to get working gdm prompt and then manually do modprobe. Didnt upgraded to Karmic. -- [Dell Inc.
