I experienced the same problem and found the cause in my case. My system is 
based on Jaunty and updated every day.
In my case the error message appeared every minute in my /var/log/messages 
file. Therefore I traced through the cron.d. It appeared that the serverstats 
process was the only one starting every minute. 
After commenting this out the error message disappeared. 
If I have some spare time I will run through the code of 
/usr/share/serverstats/update.php where the segfault is caused.
