*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 85080 *** I am surprised by the duplicate status. It is resolved but the problem I encountered was directly related to the missing kernel image which was preventing the newer vmnet module from being loaded. Once the kernel image made it to the repos everything was functional on the next install. The error messages in 85080 did not look familiar to me.
