Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution
When composing a new email, attaching a 1.2 megabyte jpeg results in 100% cpu utilization by evolution. When evolution is launched from the desktop, it is necessary to power cycle the computer to regain control. Setting soft limits and starting evolution from a terminal allows attaching to the process with gdb, which shows the process to variously be in a cairo or murrine routine. The problem may be associated with rendering the image thumbnail or progress bar in the attachment area of the email.
