Strike that. The hack causes fatal error on reboot when the system attempts to load X-server the screen begins flickering and issuing a permissions error and continues flickering until reset button is hit on the machine. I can no longer boot into my Karmic partition and cannot access the data on it so I'm going to reinstall.
