Ok. I have a bunch of possibly related problems, and haven't yet managed to sort them out.
Sometimes I get applet error messages (even after removing dropbox), and sometimes I don't. Sometimes opening firefox freezes the desktop, and sometimes it doesn't. As I reported, starting another application (terminal) has never caused a freeze. Starting firefox from the menu instead of by using the panel button hasn't caused a freeze. Starting firefox from the panel button after opening the window hasn't caused a freeze, but I haven't tried it a lot. *Perhaps* a freeze didn't happen when I disabled kernel mode setting, but I'm not sure. For now, I'll continue with no kernel mode setting and no dropbox. If the freeze happens again, I'll report. -- xorg freeze when starting firefox https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/450779 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
