Yes, sorry, I should have got back to you to close the bug. I tracked down that OpenGL was not working after a kernel upgrade. On install Ubuntu had installed the 3D accelerated driver for my old ATI card after the upgrade hardware accelerated OpenGL was no longer working. I was unable to get hardware OpenGL going again but installed the MESA software OpenGL implementation and Ghemical loads fine.
