Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-shell
Gnome Shell on Ubuntu Karmic in a twin view dual monitor setup is not hidden completely by a gnome-screensaver locked screen. In fact the gnome-shell task bar is still shown and partly usable though the login dialog is shown. Reproduce: Use Gnome with two displays, start "gnome-shell --replace" and launch gnome-screensaver (e.g. by "ctrl-alt-l"). The screen will be blacked out completely for a second but then the gnome-shell bar comes back and is clickable. You can see this as the focussed application changes. Depending on the used applets this might be a security risk. At least the users privacy is endangered locally. As I don't know if this bug is against gnome-shell or gnome-screensaver I'll mark both as affected. See the attached screenshot showing both screens at once.
