Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-applet

I initially start signed into empathy. Quit Empathy and switch to
pidgin. Indicator-Applet-Session changes to "offline" even though
Pidgin has loaded and has a status that is not offline. Upon changing
the status in Indicator-applet empathy loads with the given status in
indicator-applet-session and pidgin's status doesn't change.

Changing status in indicator-applet-session while running pidgin causes empathy
to load and never sets pidgins status
