I'd like to change the description, since the situation has changed a
bit after updates, but Launchpad won't accept it "Entity-body was not a
well-formed JSON document."

Here's how the description should now read:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

Under Jaunty (and any previous Ubuntu releases), plugging headphones to
the headphone mini-jack out plug cuts sounds to the main speakers
(analog) and directs it to the headphone output instead.

In Karmic, that even is not detected, and the sound keep playing on the
speakers even though the headphones have been connected. The headphones
also have sound (since an update from the first time this bug was
reported, initially the headphones didn't get any sound) Manually use
the volume properties (right click on the sound icon>Preferences) to
change the output to "Analog Headphones" mutes the sound for both
speakers and headphones.
