I have the same problem and trying to test the various workarounds suggested here.
The problem on my laptop (asus a6k) emerged after 8.10 -> 9.04 upgrade. I though my burner was broken, and replaced it with a brand new one. Still same errors and problems. I cannot burn anything :/ This is booted with all_generic_ide=1: hdparm -i /dev/cdrom /dev/cdrom: Model=TSSTcorp CDDVDW SN-S082H , FwRev=SB01 , SerialNo= Config={ Fixed Removeable DTR<=5Mbs DTR>10Mbs nonMagnetic } RawCHS=0/0/0, TrkSize=0, SectSize=0, ECCbytes=0 BuffType=unknown, BuffSize=0kB, MaxMultSect=0 (maybe): CurCHS=0/0/0, CurSects=0, LBA=yes, LBAsects=0 IORDY=on/off, tPIO={min:383,w/IORDY:120}, tDMA={min:120,rec:120} PIO modes: pio0 pio1 pio2 pio3 pio4 DMA modes: mdma0 mdma1 mdma2 UDMA modes: udma0 udma1 *udma2 AdvancedPM=no Drive conforms to: unknown: * signifies the current active mode -- DVD writer not working since hardy upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/228624 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
