I have the same problem and trying to test the various workarounds
suggested here.

The problem on my laptop (asus a6k) emerged after 8.10 -> 9.04 upgrade.
I though my burner was broken, and replaced it with a brand new one.
Still same errors and problems.

I cannot burn anything :/
