Hello,
I have Fujitsu Siemens AMILO Li 1718 laptop with Atheros AR5001 wireless
network adapter.
It worked very well and out-of-the-box (first time ever!) in Karmic 9.10
alpha-2, but stopped working after subsequent upgrades. Why?

The network-manager's "Enable Wireless" option is disabled and the
wireless list is completely empty.
