Public bug reported:
Installed Kubuntu Karmic Beta from live CD onto eMachine M6807 laptop
from 2004. Installed updates immediately after installation. Rebooted.
Installed b43-fwcutter package to make Broadcom 40100 wifi radio
functional. Rebooted. Laptop wifi indicator shows radio is activated.
plasma-network-manager shows no networks or that wifi is functional.
Uninstalled b43-fwcutter package. Installed bcmwl-kernel-source. Same
result. Uninstalled. Installed Broadcom STA drivers. Same result.
Uninstalled plasma-network-manager and installed WICD with each package.
Same result. Various permutations have similar result. Please fix before
release as this radio works perfectly under Ubuntu Karmic Beta using
just the b43-fwcutter package. The problem is Kubuntu-specific
