Public bug reported: Binary package hint: virtualbox-ose
1. ubuntu 9.10 2. virtualbox-ose: 3.0.8-dfsg-1ubuntu1 3./4. I use a Windows XP guest which i originally created on ubuntu 9.4 Under ubuntu 9.10 everything is running fine. I can use CDROM und share folders with host. Only USB is not working: - I don't have USB Devices options in the Settings (when guest is powered off) - In the machine Window under Devices -> USB Devices it says 'no available devices' I followed these instructions WITHOUT success (playing with groups and adding a line in fstab): http://ubuntuguide.net/enable-virtualbox- virtual-machinesguests-usb-support Doing this i observed the following curious things: - there was NO group vboxusers - neither was there a group with 'usb' in the name ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Thu Oct 22 11:08:38 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 NonfreeKernelModules: wl Package: virtualbox-ose-qt 3.0.8-dfsg-1ubuntu1 ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-14.48-generic SourcePackage: virtualbox-ose Uname: Linux 2.6.31-14-generic i686 VirtualBoxOse.DpkgList: ii virtualbox-guest-additions 3.0.8-1 guest additions iso image for VirtualBox ii virtualbox-ose 3.0.8-dfsg-1ubuntu1 x86 virtualization solution - base binaries ii virtualbox-ose-qt 3.0.8-dfsg-1ubuntu1 x86 virtualization solution - Qt based user ii virtualbox-ose-source 3.0.8-dfsg-1ubuntu1 x86 virtualization solution - kernel module ** Affects: virtualbox-ose (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- USB devices unavailable in VirtualBox (Windows XP guest) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/458031 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
