No, this is not fixed in Karmic Koala. Just have upgraded to Karmic, but the (similar) problem still exists: the system hangs (freeze) after boot (mouse cursor doesn't moving, Num Lock doesn't work), so only hardware reset helps to reboot.
P.S.
