On my system, this is because I have a different partition for /usr. This causes the following line in /boot/grub/grub.cfg, in the header section (line 22):
set root=(volg1-usr) (From /etc/grub.d/00_header, this is to be able to read the font file.) This screws up the memtest entry which doesn't specify a root. I'd actually propose to fix that in both locations: the memtest entry should be robust enough to work even if the root changed. But the header section shouldn't leave the /usr partition set as root as this leads to such issues and also makes it harder/confusing for the user to work with grub's command line. ** Attachment added: "grub.cfg" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/34318289/grub.cfg -- Memtest GRUB2 entry is invalid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/449180 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
