Sure there's an intention to fix this and it's easy to do so.
I'll forward the bug to Debian, where it should get fixed, and then will land 
in Ubuntu.

Regarding the package description: Why is "mails" wrong here? It's meant as 
verb here.
Description: mails anomalies in the system logfiles to the administrator
 Logcheck helps spot problems and security violations in your logfiles
 automatically and will send the results to you in e-mail.

 version has been rewritten.
