Public bug reported:

I can't  get onto the Internet with Ubuntu 9.0.4 on a Compaq Mini 110.  I think 
it is something to do with the wl.ko file. I have made a new wl.ko file using 
Broadcom's hybrid driver but can't replacee the existing version because of 
permission problems.
I also can't operate as root even having used sudo passwd as requested.  I need 
to login at the lowest level shell. I don't know what that means. Can someone 
help please.
