I can understand that, yes. But this is just an expression how _important_ it is to fix this bug. It's not funny for users to _want_ to help, but being not able to program, many have to wait, and see things evolving like UbuntuOne (when there's Dropbox already) and another compiz effect, when some of the very basics are not fixed. This is frustrating for the community as well and therefore not less important. But you're right, Ubuntu is only partly the right place to speak here.
