this may be associated with gnome-volume-control as it is where hardware settings have no option for the 6 or 8 channel option under the profile drop menu I do notice that the pop seems to be lessened if custom sound effects are chosen i.e.-sonar,drip,bark but that has no effect on the recording issues that did not previously exist without pulse
