I just tried to reproduce this with 3dchess it has a xaw3dg dependency.
When installing 3dchess with software-center the dependency is set to
auto. I can apt-get autoremove 3dchess and it will also remove xaw3dg.
With what packages do you see this problem? How can I reproduce the
problem?
