I resolved it this way, I hope it may work for you too.
1. Go to System/Network Connections/ click on the tab Wireless
2. If there is any wireless connection name listed highlight and then click on 
Delete.
3. Restart your Ubuntu 9.10.
4, After restart follow (1) 
5. Then in the Wireless Tab click on the button "Add" enter the SSID and 
wireless security either of WEP 40/128-bits or any list or type of connection  
you used.
6. Click on Apply to close the Wireless Connection box.
7. Click on "Close" in the Network Connection box.
8. You may restart your Ubuntu 9.10 now.
After restart you will be prompted if you want to enable the password for 
Network, click on "Allow".
Here you go, your wireless connection will be connected immediately.
