I experience the same problem: attempting to suspend and resume doesn't
work on a Lenovo X60t, not by closing the lid and not through the menu.

The following snip from pm-suspend.log seems to suggest that PulseAudio
may cause the problem:

/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/00powersave suspend suspend: success.
/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/01PulseAudio suspend suspend: No PulseAudio daemon
running, or not running as session daemon.
No PulseAudio daemon running, or not running as session daemon.
Returned exit code 1.
Fri Oct 30 08:46:55 CET 2009: Inhibit found, will not perform suspend
Fri Oct 30 08:46:55 CET 2009: Running hooks for resume
/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/00powersave resume suspend: success.
/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/00logging resume suspend: success.
/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/00auto-quirk resume suspend: success.
