This has been remedied on Karmic and will be fixed on all previous versions as soon as another upstream version is released. wget may very well be a holdover, but Adobe asked us to put it there. Apparently some download functionality flash uses utilizes wget, according to them. (could be wrong, as why else are they using curl?) I'll look into this the next upstream release as well. many thanks for the feedback!
