Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpid

When I try to boot the live system of the karmic (9.10) desktop CD on my
acer aspire 7730Z laptop, it fails to activate ethernet and wlan
interfaces.

It works only when I boot with acpi=off.

The jaunty (9.04) live CD activates the interfaces straightforward with
acpi on.

I can provide additional information (logs etc.) if required.

I don't know it acpid is the correct package; I tried my best to find
one.

BTW: Booting the 9.10 live system takes more than 10 minutes; 9.04 comes
up in less than 3 minutes. I don't know if this is related.
