I am getting the same issue. I did a clean install, but added an old ext3 drive to my fstab. I had to restart due to getting a kernel problem reported by apport. Upon restart, the old ext3 drive wanted to be checked. After about 5-6 minutes of the flashing, constantly reporting 0% progress, I hit escape and the system loaded fine.
