Same here, VGN-C2Z, VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G72M [GeForce Go 7400] (rev a1) Tested on Karmic, the nVidia display settings only controls contrast & brightness, NOT the brightness of the backlight. Also area where the SONY logo is very hot, suspecting the backlight is working on full blown.
