Could you go into a little more detail on what you mean in the above posting since I too have the same problem.
volume = ignore, where exactly? I couldn't find any example on your blog about this. 'see /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf' and do what? power_save_controller=N by default (on my Dell Mini 9, matching the above spec) but 'Y' also makes no difference.
