Very interesting think:
When I not using the accessible profile with both machine, the hardware 
volume button is works correct, gnome-volume-applet is present by 
default, and the hardware page is not empty with sound properties.
I think the problem related is the default accessible profile 
integration, but I am not sure this is right or not.
If possible, please ask this with Luke Yelawitch.

Sure by sure, I copyes important information with this command I think 
not put with attachment:
/proc/asound/cards contains:
  0 [Intel          ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel
                       HDA Intel at 0x94300000 irq 22
Please not surprise, but I am now my Jaunty system.
