Hello, With Edgy, I have a similar problem here : after using gxine, pictures are washed-out.
I have an Intel 82815 Chipset Graphics Controller (rev 02) (note that I had to use 16 bit colors in order to have DRI). But I also have an extra one : when using mplayer with -vo xv, I got a weird image distortion (like ghost images at 45 degrees). If I use -vo x11 or -vo gl2, picture is OK (but slooooow). Funny thing is that if I try to take a snapshot directly (-vf snapshot) the picture is OK. Fortunately using VLC is perfect, but I'd rather use mplayer. Feel free to ask any additional information.
