I am using wicd, and upgraded from Jaunty to Karmic. From what I can see wicd is failing to authenticate with a my hidden wpa-psk network. The network ID reported by wicd has change form the correct name guest.... to <hidden>
So tried changing the essid= entries in the /etc/wicd/wireless- settings.conf Get wpa_supplicant authentication may have failed. then it tries to get and IP address but this fails. I think it is generating the wrong key because the key depends on the essid and the passphrase. and it seemes to think the essid is "<hidden>" Enabling debug option seems to prove this. 2009/11/02 18:54:11 :: enctype is wpa 2009/11/02 18:54:11 :: Generating psk... 2009/11/02 18:54:11 :: ['/usr/bin/wpa_passphrase', '<hidden>', '!h3GW2!0lAb!@'] 2009/11/02 18:54:11 :: Attempting to authenticate... 2009/11/02 18:54:11 :: ['wpa_supplicant', '-B', '-i', 'wlan0', '-c', '/var/lib/wicd/configurations/001360e7efa0', '-D', 'wext'] 2009/11/02 18:54:11 :: ['iwconfig', 'wlan0', 'essid', '<hidden>'] 2009/11/02 18:54:11 :: iwconfig wlan0 channel 13 The wpa passphrase has the correct password but the essid is not correct. -- WIFI WPA1 (TKIP) - eeePC 1000H - ATHEROS AR928X (PCIe) - ath9k - No Access point https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/403994 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
