I had this problem today and the solution was as easy as strange - I've
just used Live CD instead of Alternate CD (tested both Kubuntu and
Ubuntu). The system was installed perfectly.

I've also changed in BIOS my RAID partitions so that I've one /boot
partition RAID 1 and the rest is RAID 0. I don't know if that is also
relevant.
