Yes, it is probably best to forget about this bug, even though it actually happened. I still have some similar experiences with the same laptop, Averatec H3225 where for v. 9.10 installation of downloaded suddenly stops, but not so with v. 6.01. From Internet messages it appears that others have similar problems.
Fact is that I have continued to use Ubuntu on other computers and find it much more comfortable to work with than, say, Windows Vista. Thank you for the effort you have put in.
