Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubiquity
The installation of "Karmic Koala" did not work, because the HD is not detected by the installation. When trying 'next' in the partitioning screen, I get an appropriate error (something like "no root partition selected"). When running the "Live CD" (after the cancelling of the installation) the hard drive is detected. I am able to mount the partitions or run gparted. (The installation shortcut "ubiquity --desktop %k gtk_ui" on the desktop does not work.) The PC uses an ASUS "P5B Deluxe" main board and a SATA hard drive (tried on SATA port 1 and 2). There were no fency RAID settings etc. Installations of previous versions (e.g. Intrepid Ibex 8.10) were successful, all hard drives were detected (but sometimes really slow after each operation during partition editing). V8.10. is still running as working system.
