Mr Scott James,

I pressed Escape when booting as suggested.
The Grub Menu did not contain the "e" option, only the drives
list, ( perhaps because I had erased previously the pixmap file).
I want to mention that the screen was always blank during
booting up to the Gnome screen.

I tried to boot in Recovery mode. In this mode, the booting
speed was normal.

Perhaps, it would help to solve the slow booting boog, is to reload the
6.10 disk ?.
