The "Capabilities mismatch" error is not displayed if you have the latest version, so it sounds like you don't have the latest version. Please check under System->Administration->Software Sources, in the Updates tab, that you have "Recommended updates" enabled, and that the version of the ubuntuone-client package you have installed is 1.0.2-0ubuntu2.
