I have the same problem. I updated my system from ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10. And I change the visualization effect to normal. For some reason it crashed and I had the same windows without decoration and title bar as Fabio. I can type metacity in a terminal then everything becomes normal. But if I close the terminal or log out and login, it will go back to the no-title bar state.
