That's true. But since the driver he was using was fglrx (ATI's proprietary driver) instead of the opensource driver (ati), there's not a whole lot we as the opensource community can really do about it. Closed source software is difficult to fix!
The proper procedure to get that fixed would be to notify ATI somehow.
