Now it works! Great! After a long time finally I can use UMTS with my
Asus Netbook 901Go again! The problem seems to have been that the
package mobile-broadband-provider-info was not installed. Is there a
reason why this is not automatically installed together with network
manager? Otherwise, the mobile broadband tab is available but network
manager won't work.

Alas, I'm a happy user now. I'm writing and sending this log entry using
my UMTS connection. Thank you very much! After a loooong time of waiting
for this it has finally arrived again (remember some time in 4.1 it was
broken).
