Play back of HD is better using xine and xine-ui but even that warns of too many dropped frames. The files play flawlessly on WMP and on a Mac. I'm guessing this is a software issue rather than a hardware issue as my PC is dual boot and the files play flawlessly under vista, yet choppy (that's putting it kindly) under totem / VLC / mplayer.
