It is with much egg on face, I have to admit that I can no longer
reproduce the problem.  Maybe I neglected to reboot when user was joined
to audio group and pulse never benefited from the change,, *shrugs*.
Either way, I thank you kindly for your time.

A question, if I may, rather than open new bug :)

It has come up from time to time in the past on the mailing list that
people do not want to grant console users permission to raw devices.
Easy enough to do back in the Hal/policykit days, but I cannot
understand how to do so now with udev, since the rules that identifies
the devices and applies the acl are all in 70-acl.rules, which should
not be modified.
